Through our hard work in CWA Local 1120 we were successful in getting a full fiber build in Ulster County. Ulster is the ONLY county in New York getting this type of build. Verizon has been granted BEAD money in other locations in New York but on a much smaller scale. This would have been a much larger build in New York if the fiber preference was not removed. Non-fiber builds such as cellular and Starlink took over $140 million in BEAD money that was originally slated for fiber builds.
