As you have probably heard, Cablevision fired 23 members yesterday morning. They were ready to work and had asked to meet with managers, who refused to meet with them. Managers then selectively fired 23 members, stewards and our leaders, calling some back from their routes to tell them they were fired. This morning, clergy and a bunch of elected officials including Public Advocate de Blasio and Council Speaker Quinn attempted to walk with the workers together back into work, and get them their jobs back. Everyone went in locked arms, chanting together. Cablevision goons refused entry to the building. The managers wouldn't even come out to talk, even with high level elected officials. Our elected allies and clergy vowed that they would not let this stand.
