IMPORTANT UPDATE
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Monday, June 15, 2020
I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe.
There have been no new positive tests for any members within CWA Local 1120.
Last week CWA ratified a tentative agreement on an MOA with Vassar College carpenters, which includes voluntary furloughs, wages and an early retirement incentive. I want to thank Carl Bertsche, Mary Beth Will for their hard work and input during this process.
CWA had a meeting with Marist last week to discuss their plans for reopening and staffing level. There will be another meeting this week. We will update you as soon as we have more info.
Any rumors coming out of any units are just that, rumors. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR THAT DOESN’T COME FROM YOUR UNION!
Remember, if at any time you feel there is an unsafe condition that may put you at risk, report it to your Supervisor and contact a Steward or Business Agent immediately!
As the country begins the process of reopening, we have unfortunately seen an increase in positive tests throughout the country. This was predicted by the CDC. We have to remember to be vigilant in protecting ourselves moving forward by the continuous use of face shields as well as practicing social distancing.
I am encouraged by the many members that have reached out to me to show support for CWA taking an active role in support for racial equality and Black Lives Matter. They spoke about the realization of the importance of respecting each other and the acknowledgement that racism and racial injustice still exist in this day and age. For anyone that says “All Lives Matter” let them know that all lives cannot matter until
“Black Lives Matter”. This is not a political statement. It’s not a Red or Blue thing. It is not a Republican or Democrat thing. It is a basic human rights thing!
ON BEHALF OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF CWA LOCAL 1120, BE SAFE AND STAY SAFE!!!
In Solidarity
Frank J Fauci Jr
President, CWA Local 1120
